The Contradiction of Holiday Decorations
By Life-Musings.com | December 23, 2008
I came across this thought in another article by someone else, and I found it somewhat amusing, yet also disturbing in a way.
It is Christmas time, and over in the United States, many families have put out the Christmas decorations on their lawn - infant Jesus, Mary, Joseph, wise men, sheep, manger scenes, etc. All very nice and heart-warming.
Yet, just two months before, during the month of October, those exact same locations were decorated with bloody vampires, ugly monsters and dismembered corpses. Uhhh… not *so* heartwarming. In fact, downright chilling, perhaps.
What are people thinking, when they go through such habitual, seasonal behavior?
Wait a minute. Are they even thinking? Or do such seasons just bring about some form of robotic and zombie-fied behavior? No critical thinking required, just follow the masses’ behavior. Halloween is coming - let’s buy Halloween decorations - let’s put them out - let’s take them down - Christmas is coming - let’s BUY…….
Quite honestly, I have not figured out whether this kind of behavior is amusing, or simply worrying and frightening. Maybe they all apply.
