Seeking Solutions Instead of Looking for Problems and Obstacles
By Life-Musings.com | October 20, 2008
Have you thought about why you are not healthier than you are now?
Have you thought about why you are not doing the things which you know are right for your body, such as eating better food and exercising more?
Has it crossed your mind why you are not spending more time with your loved ones?
Why your house isn’t as neat as you have always wanted it to be?
Why you don’t spend as much quiet time with yourself as you would like to?
Why you aren’t as productive at work as you wished you were?
Basically, have you already drawn up ready-made lists of reasons and / or excuses (often, there is pretty much a thin line between them…) as to why various aspects of your life are not the way you want them to be?
If you are anything like me, then, chances are, you would have.
Don’t get me wrong. I know you have your reasons. Often, they are probably valid. I know modern life is so very hectic, and it really beats us up.
But, oh so often, I find myself dwelling on problems, issues, obstacles, the why-I-can’t-do-this and the if-only-that-wasn’t-like-that, etc. It has dawned upon me that I need to STOP looking at problems and for problems, and to start looking for solutions instead.
It certainly isn’t easy. Old habits die hard, and this certainly bears constant reminding.
But it is very well worth it. Every minute spent dwelling on obstacles is not only a minute lost, it is in fact more than that, because we are talking about having to deal with a fair amount of negative energy and pessimism as well.
Let’s learn to be positive and solution-seeking.
