Frightening People Come Out On The Internet
By Life-Musings.com | February 15, 2009
The internet brings a world of information to our fingertips. But it also opens many cans of worms.
Among them, is the “coming out” of all kinds of people.
The web has moved into a new era. Web 2.0, it is sometimes called, where people can leave their thoughts and comments on various platforms. Be it Youtube, forums or blogs, there are now many avenues for readers to leave a piece of their mind.
And it’s sickening how some people can be.
I have visited many types of websites. There are health discussions. Religious discussions. God discussions. Sports discussions. Many types.
There seem to be some people who have a bone to pick with everyone; they behave like spoilt children.
Some are so bigoted in their beliefs, so racist in their comments, so high-and-mighty in their words, it’s frightening.
Then there are some so heartless, it’s beyond belief.
Animals being skinned alive to support fur trade. Sick animals stung with electric prods to support the meat industry. Poor people being evicted as the farms they rely on for food are bulldozed to the ground to support consumerism. These are serious issues. They are NOT funny.
Just because someone practices a different religion, is of a different skin color, comes from a different country, or supports a different sports team - these do NOT make that person any less intelligent, any less deserving of an opinion, any less of a respectable human being than oneself.
I could go on. In summary, I’m just increasingly disgusted by some of the things I read on the web, posted by certain readers. I’m really perturbed by what goes on in their minds. I believe that many people are leading sick, frustrated lives. Unable to express themselves, unable to vent and unable to heal, they come to the internet and behave moronically, as an outlet.
While I’m heartened by the fact that many people do in fact stand up for “what is right” and “argue” with these morons, I find myself beginning to avoid such platforms. Those spastic comments rile me up unnecessarily, and there’s very little I can do in the circumstances. No point.
Scary place, this world. More accurately - people… scary.
